Liquid-Cooled Server Solution Enabled by Phytium Tengyun S5000C Launched, Winning Innovation Gold Award at CITE 2024!

April 15, 2024

At the CITE 2024, which concluded on April 11, the “Phytium Tengyun S5000C Server Liquid Cooling Solution” won the Innovation Gold Award.

Digital transformation and cloud computing development have led to rapidly growing demand for computing power and expanding data centers, accompanied by rising energy consumption. In 2022, the total electricity consumption of data centers in China was about 270 billion kilowatt-hours, and it is expected to reach 590 billion kilowatt-hours by 2030. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other departments have proposed accelerating the development of green data centers.

Currently, most air-cooled data centers face the challenge of upgrading or completely replacing the cooling technology, while cold plate liquid cooling solutions facilitate the energy-saving transformation of air-cooled data centers in many ways. The Phytium Tengyun S5000C server liquid cooling solution leverages the liquid cooling technology to allow the S5000C server CPU to run stably at higher frequencies, further enhancing the chip’s processing speed and performance.

Cooling methods provided in the solution include a combination of air and liquid cooling for the entire server, cold plate liquid cooling for the CPU, and low-speed fans for other components such as memories and hard drives. The solution features high performance, low energy consumption, more efficient heat dissipation, increased computing power density, high reliability, and economic feasibility.

At the end of 2023, Phytium released a white paper on server CPU cooling solutions. Currently, many manufacturers, including Great Wall, Tongtaiyi, and Lenovo, have launched liquid cooling solutions for the S5000C processor.

We believe that with the involvement of more partners in the ecosystem and the implementation of liquid cooling server solutions, the users will gain confidence in the application of liquid cooling technology. Phytium will continue to work with partners in the ecosystem to further promote the application of liquid cooling technology, contributing positively to the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals and promoting the green and high-quality development of data centers and other novel infrastructures.
